Technical Operations Manager

 

The Arlington County Government requires a Technical Operations Manager to serve as a SME and to oversee the management of Countywide security systems, including but not limited to video, access control, intrusion, PLC/HMI, UPS and battery backup systems. The position will also be responsible for oversight of the Justice Center security and video systems and the upgrade of the Courthouse judicial systems. The contracted technician will report to the TOM.​

Primary Responsibilities:

​

1. Serve as the County’s primary POC for daily operations, PM and CM, new project work, and billing.

2. Be onsite Monday and Friday (7 am – 4 pm)

3. Report directly to ACSO/FMB management

4. Manage onsite Hardline Technician(s), including daily operations and after-hours emergency calls

5. Manage appropriate subcontractors for door hardware and PLC systems

6. Track inventory with the goal of maintaining effective stock materials and managing product lifecycle expectations, including hardware, software, firmware, and support agreements

7. Manage Hardline Technician(s) in an efficient manner to ensure that the County’s service level expectations with regards to preventive and corrective maintenance are met while also minimizing labor hours outside of regular business hours

8. Serve as point person on resolving technical issues with PLC, video, and access control systems by engaging appropriate manufacturer’s Subject Matter Experts

Minimum Qualifications:

​

1. Experience configuring and troubleshooting layer 2 and layer 3 network devices

2. Understanding of computer hardware and operating system fundamentals, software, and firmware

3. Experience working in an enterprise network environment

4. Experience with IP video systems

Desirables:

​

1. CCNA, Network+, or other equivalent or relevant certifications

2. Experience in customer service

3. Experience in an IT Help Desk role

4. Experience with PLC systems, particularly General Electric.
